CONSTRUCTION OF A SUSTAINABLE SCHOOL IN A DENSE URBAN ENVIRONMENT, PARIS
Competition 2020 – delivery 2024
Eco-responsability : E4C2 / Objectif Bâtiment Durable francilien niveau or / Label Biodiversity / Bâtiment Biosourcé niveau 3
The location and design of the project are a response to bioclimatism, as well as to existing and planned urban issues. The building is designed in direct connection with the resources mobilized to build it. It uses combinatorial and complementary systems of natural materials. Each material has its right place : resistant stone on the ground floor, more fragile but insulating straw on the upper floors, lime-plaster on the outside, raw earth plaster on the inside, protected from the rain, the wooden structures protected in the soul of the straw walls, the interior finishes. Almost all of the materials used for the structure and the envelope are of bio-sourced (straw, wood) and geo-sourced (earth, stone) origin. The project also embodies a new vision of education. Spatial devices are imagined in the service of education and the child: free and flexible plan, opening of classes to the outside or combination of classes between them, generalization of vertical gardens and oasis courtyard.
